This queue area is going to look fantastic and loving the steampunk aesthetic too.

And this gap in the walls is where the gondola will swing through and the entrance just in front of it.

King Claw went out for tender today.  Images from public tender.

The other half of the structure was installed this afternoon. Just the motor and pendulum arm to go!

I saw that too! Here’s a picture

It’s coming along so fast too.

Claw came together similarly fast. When you think about it - it's four supports, the motor assembly and the swing arm\gondola. It kinda has to go up quick because each side of the supports relies on the other side to hold each other (which is why there are so many cranes holding everything as it goes up)

Once it's up though you can expect to see visible progress slow a bit as the finer details are taken care of.

Honestly though - if we keep getting good weather, we could see testing by September... fingers crossed for an earlier than boxing day open!

Considering The Claw started construction at the start of the year and was open in September, I’m honestly expecting a similar timeframe (if there aren’t any weather delays).

I was at dreamworld on sunday(no news to give u!) I was at dreamworld today(monday) the supports were all inside the constrution zone...I was there at 10-30 today and they have already placed together two of the 4 supports, and the other two were getting ready to be joined. They are joined together waith a triangle piece, and inside the triangle is a circle, this is were im guessing will be were the rides boom attatches to the swinging pole. the area were the ride is has been fenced off wider now. the pieces are joined together put r still laying on the ground,,(i left the park so anything could have happend since then) so when u look into the area the pieces look like two big V' s joined...i didnt have my cam(i got a new digital cam so ill be able to take photos now for u. they have also welded on a maintanance ladder the entire length of one of the supports. (lots of workers there and big men in suits) (the triangle pieces must of arrived today because i havent seen them in the car park.)

This post from July 19, 2004, shows that supports were only being installed on The Claw in mid-July.

The ride opened September 18, 2004.

Dreamworld is definitely aiming for a September holiday opening.

I want to congratulate you for trawling back that far to find that. That's really impressive.

While King Claw might have 'more theming' than Claw did - the construction comparisons we've seen posted here recently also show that when Claw went up, the site was greenfields, so they built all the structures after the ride was up - whereas we can already see the majority of the queue structure is already up and ready - so they've got a head start on the theming and while there is still more to do - September is definitely possible.

And for reference, here is a photo of The Claw from many years ago.

You can see that the roof at the front right is still the same as gives an indication of how insanely big King Claw actually is!

That's a great comparison shot there, although the depth is a bit different, it's definitely bigger.

It's an absolutely bollocks perspective, but the pines in ocean parade have grown too. Not sure the year on Magician's Claw pic above, but the pines on the extreme right were the height of Claw, and now are the height of king claw!

The last podcast Greg did with Dane Themepark Podcast I swear I remember him saying the turntable room isn't finished yet and there was still one more big piece to come, could be wrong though.

JR second waterfall still not working.

MM wheelchair accessible cars still to come.

Train can't do loop de loops.

But also remember down the road we’re stilling waiting on Superman Escape to have its queue/locker upgrades, an all new dining experience to open, Doomsday to be replaced, Scooby to open, for WoO to become world class and for them to sort out their electrical system so they don’t have wiring hanging above guest areas.

(The last couple I added for dramatic effect, but you get my point).

I think it's safe to put to bed that this fencing was likely intended to be the envelope fencing, and they had to change to the black fencing for compliance reasons. There's nowhere left in rivertown where all this fencing would be practical, so probably safe to say this is excess (though hopefully in the future they can use it elsewhere)
