Six Flags Magic Mountain permanently closes Superman coaster

Quote

The Lex Luther: Drop of Doom attached to the coaster tower will remain in operation after Superman: Escape from Krypton closes. The drop tower ride will reopen in April following a seasonal refurbishment.... 'It’s too early to disclose what we’re going to do with the actual track, cars, queue, building structure and everything else that comes with the attraction.'

Spare parts only went so far. Seems GD won't reclaim it's record anytime soon.

Six Flags pulls the Village Roadshow special with Superman and Dreamworld gives final rides to Tower of Terror.

Oh how times have changed

Its been SBNO for some time - I'll give them a pass on this one as they're in an unwinnable situation; you'd have to spend money to re-open it for last rides and then permanently close it again.

Doesn't make financial sense, especially when the company is trying to consolidate its offerings post merge.

Was disappointed it was closed during our first visit in September last year, was kinda hoping to relive the experience one more time before it closed for good.
