Indeed, with probably a fancy new train (modern straddle or spinning) and a fresh paint job

Funnily enough, just after Bermuda launched at Futuroscope, I played around with AI to envision a rocking boat attraction in the MC plot. Theming-wise, the Tasmans have established an expedition ba

If the new transformer is dedicated specifically to the ride and not part of a wider park electrical upgrade, it makes the LSM theory more likely. I have always thought DW would go a LSM launch over an electric tyre launch, although the cost difference between the two would be substantial.

An LSM would be the closest equivalent to the original hydraulic launch, offering smooth power with a kick. While an electric tyre launch could be a alternative, replicating the same acceleration but the kick of the hydraulic system would be much harder to achieve.

i think their final decision will come down to how much remaining life they believe they can get from the existing track.

It won't be LSMs, that will require a lot of other costly changes. LSMs are heavy, and the LSM magnets that have to go under the trains are even heavier, as you've said the track wouldn't be desinged for those loads.. Not to mention how high the trains would need to sit off the track to accommodate this. Some places the clearance envelope is tight, not that you'd ever notice it due to the restrictive crushing restraints. Worst comes to worse they couldn't even reuse the current train if they wanted to save a buck.

If it's not LSMs interesting as to why they'd upgrade this, could be part of a broader overhaul of the park, but time will tell what they do with the existing one. From memory TOT had them spread out along the launch?

Wouldn't exactly say that the launch was powerful, I find Big Dipper at LPS to have more of a punch launch than it, even Jet Rescue is more punchy but that's subjective. Electric drive tyre launch is what I believe will be the replacement, similar to below.

There's only one Intamin straddle with LSMs and its borderline not a straddle due to the seating position, more so a regular Intamin seat with a bike moulded around you. The rest are electric tyre launches including the Jet Rescue Clone. This would line up with Intamins Multi Dimension Coaster product that has a range of new fancy trains. Only one train type can accommodate LSMs and its 4x4, not within the scope of this project.

Sorry, I was in a rush yesterday and didn't address the weight claim.

Modern coaster trains are lighter than trains built 20 years ago because early systems were over engineered resulting in heavier chassis.

LSM trains also don't normally carry magnets. The train uses aluminium or steel reaction fins that interact with the stators mounted in the track. The fins typically only add a couple of hundred kilograms to the train. On the other hand, a tyre launched train requires steel friction plates for the launch tyres to grip, and those components would no longer be needed.

Ultimately, the decision comes down to cost. If DW sees the retheme as a long term investment, an LSM launch makes more sense if not a cheaper system makes more sense.

Also, launch "kick" isn't determined solely by top speed.

100% they are going to keep the ride and move to LSM

This was always on the cards but many here said no way its definitely going to be all new because marketing said so bla bla bla

^ nice idea but this beauty looks a good 20m + Id hazard a guess , the real budget would be less than half that figure. Maybe close to 20m if you want to include a river boat cruise and another lesser attraction to Rivertown, but Yuh, just nuh.

By "that" & "next chapter" , surely they're hinting at something a little closer to home. An easy retheme, - immersive queue, spinning cars, even a 2nd launch? Tbh, this Coaster has far more potential than just pulling it down. Guess I'll be standing by to eat my word soup, but in the meantime I guess we'll just have to wait and see 😋

Considering the CEH FY results are happening Friday, I’d be putting $50 on Friday being the big reveal and another $50 on this week just to cover my bases. Basically, I’m betting $100 on the fact that something is going to happen sometime between now and Friday. Genius strategy really.

@Ogre I hope you be rewarded this week for being 🤐.

A new adventure is coming to Rivertown ⛏️
Introducing Lost Mine Mayhem, Dreamworld's next major attraction and a near $20 million family adventure opening in late 2027.
Featuring a brand-new story, all-new ride vehicles and immersive theming, guests will journey beyond Rivertown on an ATV expedition unlike anything we've built before.
Inspired by classic treasure-hunting adventures, Lost Mine Mayhem will expand the world of Rivertown with detailed environments, hidden discoveries and surprises waiting around every corner.
This is only the beginning.

That's a lot of money to spend on renovating a ride which is nothing to write home about. At least it should be more comfortable to go on

I’m surprised they didn’t want to re-track or change / add new elements to the layout as 2027 marks the rides 20th year I wonder how long they will get with the new one before eventually they need to close it again.

Finally its announced. I have known about it for a while but didnt wanna spill anything.
$20 million on a revamp is wild. I am hoping the theming and area gets a huge overhaul to match the river down area and "Mine" theme.
Bit of a let down on the use of Ai for the concept art too... Lets see what else comes of it all
