Which will open first?

It's late, at night, I'm bored, time for another stupid/funny poll! Which will ever open to the public first...Orphan Rocker at Scenic World or Flying Turns at Knoebels?

Is there any kind of story behind flying turns? What would also be likely to open first, the abandoned casino half built in Vegas out orphan rocker

I reckon Flying Turns will eventually open. Orphan Rocker on the other hand,, will probably sit idle for another decade before we see any serious work on it.

Easily Flying Turns, they were making some real progress on it until flooding earlier in the year.

Actually, Richard's statement isn't too far from correct. As it stands, orphan rocker will never open to the public. Trying to correct it's deficiencies now would cost more than simply engaging a coaster manufacturer with years of experience... Maybe not B&M... maybe something a little cheaper. Nobody needs stupendous elements when you've got that natural landscape to work with... take a look at the mine train at Ocean Park, Hong Kong... TPR recently had a facebook goggle-fest over that simple coaster, that doesn't really have much in the way of thrills.... except it's location on the sheer side of a rocky cliff... Anyway - point is - they may open a roller coaster there one day in the future, and it may even be called the orphan rocker, and it may follow the same path, and even use some existing infrastructure, supports etc - but in its current form state - that will never open.

Your probably right in this AlexB. The thing has sat there since the mid to late 80's and there has been no real effort expended up til now to get the thing running and open to the public. It may be that the Hammonds have realized what you have just said- that in its current form ,Orphan Rocker would not be financially viable to get up and running for public use.

It may look boring, but that coaster actually has some INSANE airtime on the back row on the large mid-ride drop. The rest of the ride is a little dull though. With Orphan Rocker I honestly feel like we're just waiting for it to rust and fall off the cliff lol. Flying Turns probably won't open any time soon, but it has a much higher chance of opening than Orphan Rocker. Edited October 17, 2012 by alex_1
