Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion

Featured Replies

I applaud DW for at least making the area comfortable and some needed shaded seating.

I think you will find this is simply an interim measure at least until a positive solution is reached that will hopefully make everyone happy. DW WANT TO REOPEN THIS RIDE - just as many have speculated and one way or another, I am confident that we will be see something positive coming to the old Mine Ride site by the end of next year

2016 is going to be a bumper year for growth in our Parks. Without a doubt MW has big plans too and how awesome would it be if a runaway mine cart coaster was built over the Western show stage area - along with a fun flat ride for the old LW theatre.

Game on I say!

Sad but true... was sitting down at one of above park benches just minutes ago before leaving the DW lol. However also confirmed that they aren't fixed to the ground in any way, and are therefore easily removable at any time if they decide they want to do something different with that area.

Can confirm tables move

The area's looking really great. Good on 'em. Neat that you can climb over that horse-carriage/herse much like what they've done with the firetruck that was cordoned off for many years. The park's starting to feel very polished and together again.

If Dreamworld were to reopen the ride they would need:

- New carts, up to date with 2015 safety standards (the reason why the ride closed)

- Rebuild theming inside and outside the mountain

- Touch up faded exterior

- Over-haul ride systems and operations

- Rebuild the station and queue

Seems like no more than a $3-5 million job. No way would they get a new ride as good as Eureka for that price. I think Dreamworld management are making quite a poor decision neglecting it. Especially because seeing it so visibly closed causes a lot of disappointment for a lot of people.

Does anyone think this ride will ever reopen? Or will anything whatsoever happen?

> Have you even read this thread?

really? I swear I saw the cart sitting at the station with the dummies on board back on the 4th of October,

Oh really? We haven't seen any activity for a while now, just an empty station each visit.

Either it was a one-off on that day or we have just been visiting on the wrong days ?

Maybe it's not the wrong days maybe testing is just being done outside of park hours

Push did you just make a funny?

now now, don't be critical of people who post here.

ashley, I tend to find this place is a much happier forum to visit if you just block people who make fun of you or are overly critical...

I take this as proof that one day the mine ride will reopen. Dreamworld's map clearly shows the symbol for the gold rush country as a mine cart, coincidence? I think not!

I've never ridden this coaster so I was wondering what was so special about it that has led to it to be so loved by not only forum members but also the general public?

Honestly? 99% nostalgia.

Pretty much this, I guess it's been sitting there for so long now that it makes people miss it more than they would if they tore it down and made everyone forget.

I agree, if the ride was torn down and another one out in its place, no one would care. It's just cause it's sitting there so visibly that people want to see something happen
