Favourite Drop Tower?

Recommended Posts

Ah, the good old Intamin first gen free falls. I've been on a few, Magic Mountain, Cedar Point, Movieland Studios, and I can't remember if I did the one at Great Adventure. They were so clunky.

Scariest free fall, the SCAD tower, not a ride, more a near death experience.

Has anyone been on Zumanjaro at Great Adventure?

It's also very rare to come across a First Generation Freefall tower. The only ones I know of is the one at Dorney Park and Movieland Studios. There could be one in Japan but I'm not really sure.

There's also one at Dorney Park, which I hope to ride in a couple of weeks.

Inexplicably, the first time I was at SFMM Freefall was going, but I decided to ride Tidal Wave instead.

And then on my next visit it was gone :(

i have a vague recollection of a freefall type ride when I visited the US in 96 - kind of an 'elevator' type lift tot he top, then it slid you forwards over a 'chute', before freefalling into a gradual slope that brought you back down to ground level lying on your back... is this what you're talking about with a 'first-gen' ?

I must admit I didnt think much of it at the time but in retrospect it does seem very much a death trap...
