Movie World Fright Nights 2016

Recommended Posts

Last night was much better than the First Weekend. The Conjuring 2 made the massive leap to being my favourite maze of the event. All the right changes were made to make it an absolute standout.

Queues weren't bad for a sold-out night either.

I honestly think people that go to fright nights and go out of their way to show how not scared they are and act too cool for school and brag about it are just losers.

Why go? It's just ruining the fun for everyone else.

Yay you didn't get scared mr/miss cool how friken sad for you.

I think anyone who's been in one of the mazes with me can attest to how scared I get. I don't go to Fright Nights to showcase my bravado, I go because I want to have the ever-living shit scared out of me. It honestly disappoints me when I see people being dickheads all because they need to show how tough they think they are.

My friend and I were watching that guy, I swear he was on something, he was doing what he was doing in this video for a legitimate 15 minutes straight. o_o

If you haven't seen it, or you wanted to see it again, here's the whole Fright Nights finale.

Were you the Asian guy on the Terror Tour using the GoPro strap on your hand? :P

Given there was a lot of complaining about this last week, I wanted to say a huge thank you to the lighting guys.

The event is no longer drowned in purple and it makes it so much better for getting photos.

This weekend was a massive improvement on last week.

Alright, here is my review for Fright Nights 2016 (for anyone who hasn't gone yet)

Also, I'm not going to be mentioning the precincts as they have already been spoken about and aren't really too interesting compared to the mazes TBH.

Keep in mind, these are all MY opinions.

I got to MW at about 4:00 and went straight on the Superman ride and picked up my maze Fast Track pass, we got to the front of the opening show which was awesome, I definitely prefer it over last year's, although that one was awesome aswell.

After a massive stampede of people tripping over around my friend and I while the staff were trying to stop everybody from dying we finally managed to get to:

The Conjuring 2 Maze:

The first time going through this maze, I'll be honest, I was extremely underwhelmed, and being a massive fan of the event and movie, I actually felt really sad and begun to lose hope as people were saying that FDTD isn't that great either. I didn't even see an actor until the swingset area. We did go back into this maze a second time later on and I can tell you it was a million times better, it was filled with actors and I got scared multiple times, especially with the very last scare, that was really well done. 9/10

From Dusk Til Dawn Maze:

I went into this maze after my first run of TC2 feeling down about it being pretty boring, but when I got into FDTD, I instantly felt better, with the music playing, the water spraying, the actors and the perfect scare opportunities I can honestly say I enjoyed this maze the most. I ended up going in this maze 3 times and believe it or not, it got better each time. Shoutout to the dude who kept jumping on top of the table and doing flips n s**t. 9.5/10

Wyrmwood Maze:

After finishing FDTD, my friend and I decided to enter Wyrmwood as they are right next to each other, we had both been in last year and expected nothing below brilliant... That isn't really how it turned out. I feel like they actually butchered this maze down to the point where it was almost boring, even with me being right at the very front of this one, it was nowhere near as good as it was last year IMO. The actors seemed unenthusiastic and everything was placed oddly, whereas last year I feel like everything was near perfect. I like how the truck seen with the dancing dude was much bigger this time around, but I don't see why they decided not to include any zombies in that room this year(???). It was still a good maze but with a big downfall from it's first run. 7/10

Friday The 13th Maze:

Finally, we entered the F13 maze. Our first run was really, really bad, so I don't think I'll even count it into this review, two of the lines collided leaving Jason stuck in the corner of the tunnel staring down people, and honestly, it was almost awkward; that was for a good few minutes aswell, I don't know what stopped the line from moving for so long. Our second run was much better, but as mentioned before, I don't see why they made the lake look so "trashy" this year, seeing as last year, it felt like you were actually walking along a bridge above water. The tunnel was much smaller and more cramped this year, with not many scares throughout the maze, again, it depends on the run you're going through, which we can't really help. 6/10

After going in all of the mazes 2 times each, with FDTD having a third run, it was time for the closing show. I really enjoyed the show despite it not making much sense for a horror event. Also, as said before, I feel like they are trying to appeal to a younger audience with the whole "Selfie" thing, that was a bit weird to watch, but overall I enjoyed the atmosphere and the experience.

I really, really enjoyed this year's Fright Nights, and I'll be back again this Saturday for my birthday and the UTT, can't wait to see you guys there! :)

Even though it already began I think it's possible for AHS to appear next year because while Universal has AHS in the US. Warner Bros, and Village Roadshow could get the rights to use AHS as a maze outside the US. It's also possible for The Exorcist since Warner Bros has the official rights to the film.

Warner Bros is really only tied to the park by name and some shared licensing. I don't think we are far from seeing 'Warner Bros' removed from the parks official name in the future

So they would change the sign to Movie World instead of Warner Bros Movie World?  I'm not sure how I feel about that.

But it could still work right if Village Roadshow is allowed to use AHS outside the U.S. for Movie World?

Would depend on if the licensing rights sold to Universal were globally exclusive or domestically exclusively

Well I looked, and Universal Studios Japan nor Singapore have American Horror Story so most likely is U.S. exclusive for Universal. Plus Movie World has Friday the 13th at the same time Universal has Freddy vs. Jason so it's possible for 2 different companies overseas to have licensing rights to certain shows, and films outside there specific country.

Not really. One or two every now and then, but otherwise, just smoke.

I saw on Instagram a photo of how long the lines were and how it went past a giant tree over by zombie alley and the two sheds and it would be interesting if movie world had occupied that tree/ grass area and did something with it to keep the guests amused whilst waiting. In previous years they've had actors interact with the audience throughout the queue...why not now? Whether they used that area as Friday the 13th scare scene ( these are just random ideas) or even a prop like Casey Beckers ( Drew Barrymores character from Scream) body hanging from a tree? From what I've been told - they did something similar to this in the special scare zone for UTT members last year.
