Alternatively, if the Giant Drop ever got old DW could ring up Intamin and make it one of the most popular rides in the park again. Imagine free-falling face-down from that height.

I feel like it almost wouldn't be worth it because it would be too intimidating for most of the park's visitors. The last two times I visited Dreamworld in peak season the queues for Giant Drop haven't been more than 10 minutes, once with only one gondola in use. A lot of people I know love thrills but just won't do it because of the height and it makes them sick, so doing it face down would only appeal to a tiny proportion of the park in my opinion.

That ride is no different to skydiving - and there are plenty of people who like to do skydiving. As long as they get enough guests for each carriage on a regular cycle, it would be perfect operationally and also, everyone likes a short queue!

That's interesting - I often find GD's queues are shorter than a lot of the other queues in the park, although I don't understand how the GD could be more sickening than rides such as the Claw and Wipeout. I think one of the bigger reasons it gets shorter queues is because it's further away from the other thrill rides. And despite having a small capacity, it still chews crowds quicker than some of the other rides because of its simplicity to load and operate.

Intamin released a new drop tower design at IAAPA called the Sky Jump. It looks a fair bit like a falcons fury style drop tour but a lot cheaper. I reckon a park like Sea World could do with it a lot. Its very different to every other drop tower on the gold coast. We've got one that goes down, we've got one that goes up, and if Sea World put this in, a thrilling ride with a pretty good capacity and small foot print, we would have a drop tower that goes down and twists you around.

The problem for Sea World is it is currently restricted by height limits on the spit. Nothing taller than Storm \ Sea Viper can be built, except by special permission from the GCCC (such as the Eye)

@Theme Park Girl seeing that aerial photo of Bermuda Triangle brought back so many great memories, miss it so much.

Know it's prob not on topic, but does anyone have pics of the inside of BT or anyone see what it looked like lights on or during maintenance or something. Would love to know what it looked like/how it all worked, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Also, what did they do with all those awesome props from inside the volcano? Having a look at clips on YouTube, though very dark, reminded me of how awesome that ride was. Anyone know if any of them survived? Why, oh why did they get rid of BT :'(

Thanks @Jamberoo Fan and @reanimated35

Wonder who else was lucky enough to snap them up, like private buyers, etc.

There actually is a Parkz member who owns two of the aliens.

Gaawwww, get out!!

Who ever it is will they marry me?  I'll gladly adopt the twins as my own!!

A few years ago one of the Police Academy Stunt Show cop cars was parked, for a few months, out the front of a house down from where I used to live. That was cool.

Thanks @AlexB ;-)

Guy across the road from me does a lot of work on older cars and has one of the PASS cars in his personal collection...  Had it sitting in his driveway yesterday...  Also owns a hearse he brings out during October and a Monkeemobile...  Will have to get a photo one day...

I think SW will be holding off building anything major until the new Spit masterplan is complete.   We know SW is involved with the new casino and the GCCC has deferred its vote for the new hotels down the road until the Queensland government finish the new masterplan for the spit.

I can also confirm that this person is happily married, and that both robots are currently enjoying retirement. I have heard though that the owner is wanting to one day get them operational again.

I've also heard they're really off the rails on another project right now, so it might be a while.

Any chance of asking this lucky owner to provide you some photos you could share?

Ask and you shall receive. My friend apologises for the aliens tardiness, like most theme park guests he'd lose his brain if it wasn't screwed on, and it's not hence the detached state,
