Superman Escape gift shop removed

Featured Replies

Superman Exit refurb is now finished. I do like what they have done theming wise to make it feel like the MRT ticket booth/station, but also feels like a waste of space. There is quite an echo in the room too, and the floor is very bouncy

Kinda looks like a missed chance to do something with combining the photo screens & ticket window somehow.

Some additional lockers could also have gone in towards the external door.

The white brick wrap looks great, but I wish it extended up the entire height of the wall - looks very strange having the unthemed strip above it. Would be great if we can get that wrap in the queue and station as well to make it feel more metro-y.

I think it could have been good to during these renovations add a couple more Fast Photo screens, because often that corner can turn into a bit of a mosh pit. Other than that though, I think it looks pretty good.

It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm reminded of the queue relocation for ToT, and am thankful they just decided to TRY linking the theme.

Sure, theres plot holes you can shoot an MRT train through... but its a nice try on an attraction that is otherwise not receiving any significant upgrades to draw people back, and therefore probably wasn't on the CAPEX list for this year.

Notice the sign referring to 'Planet Square'?

Does this mean the area of the rollercoaster's outdoor portion is now called 'Planet Square'?

I do agree the exit looks like a "waste of space" but like @AlexB said credit to them for at least theming the exit. They just need to justify the lack of earthquake damage but like @themagician suggested, that is an easy solution to make.

Maybe to liven up the exit and reinforce the theme in the exit just a little bit more they could add TV screens showing a loop of TV coverage of Superman's rescue of the MRT train, timed so the critical part is shown when guests hop off the ride?:

As the train leaves the station, the TV is covered with static.  This lasts 60 seconds, at which point the train should launch. The static is then replaced with a 'breaking news' bulletin. It shows the hosts explaining the situation to the audience whilst showing 'live' footage of damage from the earthquake such as a burst water main near the entry of a subway and a collapsed road with 2 police cars in it (referring to events seen on the ride's indoor portion). This lasts 30 seconds. The news bulletin concludes with 'live' footage of Superman bringing an MRT train into another (presumably safe) MRT station. This last 20 seconds and imitates the rollercoaster's brake run and exit station arrival. Superman then does a quick interview for the TV channel before flying away. The TV channel also quickly interviews a passenger of the MRT train. This is all shown as guests leave the ride. The hosts then return the channel back to 'live' coverage of a baseball game held in another far-away city. The baseball game footage lasts however long it needs to. The TV loop then restarts when the ride leaves the main station causing a reference to the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

As the station is unnamed, simply give it a name and update the TV monitors so that it is perhaps the end of one of the lines shown in the queue. Isn't the 'earthquake' meant to be have been caused by Lex Luthor, so would only be localised anyway?

But all of that costs money and provides no return on investment to the average guest.

I'd prefer them spend the money on the doors and (better) air cooling systems to be honest.

I am totally fine with what they have done here. Especially when comparing it to the Jet Rescue Exit.

In keeping the Non-rollercoaster Rider Folk's happy, howsabout adding few more benches, crank up the air con and pop in a couple of screens showing inside the ride?

Why bunch all the screens into such a small corner? Look how much space there is! Spread them out a little. Also Jet Rescue's exit being awful does not excuse this. It's pretty poor.

Sorry just trying to get back to normal by having a rage about something that doesn't really matter after raging about something that very much does.

Only thing I can think of is that the little 'self service barcode scannery things are all connected back to one source, and it was all set up by the contractor with the small space in mind (like rivals) - and now its too much effort to get it rewired to spread them out, as that would involve running cables through the walls, or purchasing additional devices to power each screen due to the distance, rather than running several off one.

*i have no idea how these are actually set up - just spitballing

**as i mentioned before, because SE likely didn't have anything set aside for capex, they're probably working on a shoestring

***pretty much everything else they've done is cosmetic

****i realise there's a number of flaws in my theory, but i'm sure somewhere in there is probably the truth as to why they're all bunched up at one end.

The barcode scanner things were already bunched in the corner when it was a shop, they didn’t see the need to spend extra $$ just to spread them out, simple explanation.

Well I can understand why they didn’t.

But I also do see a very good reason to spread them out.
