  • The thing with the pre show, is if they are loading properly and running the attraction to its full capacity, i’d Prefer to sit through the pre show than to be standing outside in the bullpen with not

  • Soarin has better presentation (queue area, preshow) but personally feel as though the ride experience they are both great especially given both parks respective budgets. Between the two you're essent

A few weeks back:

We know the anticipation is building for the Sky Voyager opening.

We can’t wait to open this state-of-the-art flying theatre, but we also need to make sure we’ve ticked all the boxes because our commitment to safety is our priority.

The ride is currently going through the final approval processes necessary to begin operating.

Hang tight, the opening is not far away, and we can assure all our guests that this Australian-first attraction will be well worth the wait

Now:

We currently have no dates set for the opening of Sky Voyager. Once we have a date confirmed, we will let you know.

I've just seen a new updated analysis of the situation.

"SkyVoyager Opening Details"

SkyVoyager is Dreamworlds long-awaited amazing new ride experience.

Following many months of testing to ensure the highest safety standards, we are now very excited to announce that we have submitted an application to the relevant authorities who will carry out a final detailed assessment before approving the ride to be opened.

As soon as this approval is granted, SkyVoyager will be opened!

We anticipate that this may occur in the next few years, in a world of pure imagination."

@pushbutton reference?

As I said, I saw this in a world of pure imagination!

#themeparkaddict Yes it was very silly. That was my intention in response to some of the previous messages which added no new information.

The Qld Govt Inspection process is frankly looking as silly now as the Facade of the former Imax/Main Street Theatre building....again DW what ARE you thinking? The attraction itself is likely a good idea, but that building [re]design......  🤮

Safety matters, but frankly I don't see how this type of attraction, already in operation overseas, can raise so many questions. The TRR accident was terrible, DW's dirty laundry has been well-aired, but surely DW and Qld Govt have worked through numerous park expansion approvals over decades?

DW might have only just submitted the paperwork because they spent this time completing the changes necessary or gathering the correct information, to ensure they didn’t have to continuously keep going back and correcting anything

Nope.  DW told a lie.

GCB is saying SV has now been signed off but I can't read it.

“Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has now issued conditional design registration for the SkyVoyager, which means it has been deemed safe to operate with additional safety controls,” a statement from the department said. Source @goldcoastbulletin

MORE than nine months after its completion, Dreamworld’s Sky Voyager has been deemed safe enough to open to the public.

However, the theme park is yet to reveal a launch date for the multi million-dollar gondola ride, which will still need some adjustments to its safety controls to meet the terms of its conditional design registration.

“Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has now issued conditional design registration for the SkyVoyager, which means it has been deemed safe to operate with additional safety controls,” a statement from the department said.

“Sky Voyager is now able to enter service.

“As part of the conditional registration, further enhancements to controls are required.

“WHSQ will continue to work with Dreamworld as it implements these enhancements which will enable permanent design registration.”

New laws around the registration and operation of amusement rides, forged in the wake of the 2016 Dreamworld tragedy, came into force in May.

The Sky Voyager had represented a key part of the theme park’s turnaround plan, along with an injection of funds from parent group Ardent Leisure, which secured a $225 million refinance deal, to allow the park to make two major announcements before the end of the year.
Advertisements for the ride began appearing on bus shelter around the city this week.

WHSQ have declined to answer questions about what specific aspects of the ride caused the delay in registration.

Dreamworld has been contacted for details of the ride’s safety and registration process as well as its launch date.

The park revealed in May that staff had taken their first rides on the Sky Voyager, which was initially promoted in full-size bus advertisements for a Christmas 2018 launch.

Three sets of school holidays have passed since, without a hint of the ride opening.

CEO John Osborne said in May the December 2018, set by previous management, had been “ambitious”.

The delay has weighed heavily on the bottom line of Ardent Leisure, which logged a $21.8 million loss for the first six months of last financial year.

It is expected to report its full-year results for FY19 by the end of next week and has not released a profit guidance.

Additional controls sounds like useless sensors, extra manifolds and redundant fail safes. Government at its best!

Really?  Like the one's that would have saved 4 lives?

I'm talking about the ones that are not useful and change the whole original safe design. When you add useless parts by a regulator that are not required, to a mechanical device, you actually change the manufactures original design and make it more unsafe. More foreign parts make it easier for breakdowns an malfunctions. But instead of getting some knowledge you went for the cheap burn... well done

^ and other's to ensure Ride Operator's are standing clear of Ride Mechanisms/moving parts.

I really hope they haven't been required to add additional Passenger Restraints. The simple belt across the waist really adds to the freedom in flight sensation that this type of  ride is so well known for.

What Im talking about are sensor backups that already have fail safe and are not required. Additional extras that the government add for no reason other than adding them. That's why these thing stake so long because the government keep moving goal posts.
