Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2023

Movie World has posted some of the maintenance for the 2023 season on their website:

• Superman Escape - Feb 3-March 31
• Doomsday Destroyer - Feb 6-March 31
• Batwing Spaceshot - Feb 6-March 31
• Junior Driving School - March 20-March 28

I agree, except that Leviathan at Sea World/Project Zero and TNT at Gumbuya and the new kids ride at Movie World makes it exciting for the lead-up to 2023.

It also seems that the maintenance schedule is similar to this year, with Superman, Doomsday and Batwing in maintenance Feb-April 2022, as well as Junior Driving School in March.

Maybe the 8 person trains put a lot more wear on the brakes then the 4 person trains?

it opened at opening so i’m guessing maybe they were just doing some testing and inspection on that break zone to make sure the issue was resolved

I wonder when DD will open? It has been closed for around 2.5 weeks for maintenance.

I hope it doesn’t become like WNW’s sky coaster and just stay closed forever. Or like their flow rider, coaster half pipe thing, zip line.. damn WNW has so many attractions just sitting there I just realised

The problem with SkyCoaster and Flowrider is that the outsourced contractors who operated those attractions went bust during COVID. And they haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement in the country. Partly the reason why DW had to close their Flowrider too. And as for the Zip Line, that never really opened anyways. Operated for maybe a couple months and then was shut and has been left there for 10 years.

Intresting! Why could they not operate them in house like other attractions?

I can imagine sky coaster needing trained professionals to operate it as you gotta strap people in right and hold it all correctly (I am not explaining it well I don’t know how it works but something like that) as for flow rider I am not sure? Did the company who supplied parts to bust? Or is it actually hard to operate?

Both were put in at kind of a dark time in company management where a lit of quick buck American regional park style stuff was going in. Thankfully long behind us now.

Basically White Water World, Wet N Wild and Gumbuya World had FlowRiders. Unfortunately after 2020 only the latter remains.

Raging Waters Sydney has a SkyCoaster and Flowrider. Do they still have them/are they operating?

Not Sure. On the FlowRider website it only mentions Gumbuya World and Wet N Wild GC, as well as two pools in Kalgoorlie and Cairns.

Flowrider was already closed pre-COVID because it needed parts and wasn't generating the revenue needed to keep it running. Anyone could see it was doomed to fail because it was ultimately wedged in between a sea of nothingness that forced casual users into walking 200m in the opposite direction just to buy tickets. Also worth noting Dreamworld staff ran the ride and that Waveloch/WhiteWater West has a local presence in the country - availability of parts and support weren't the issue.

In 2020ish the WnW one was completely torn down and was a hole in the ground. Good to see it built back up and hopefully running soon, although missing out on critical summer dollars.

Raging Waters had the LatiTube and my google indicates Whitewater west bought the tech.

The Raging Waters website / map suggests they only have the Skycoaster now.

 

There was another Latitube in Port Hedland, which is also closed and in storage.

Is WNW’s sky coaster 300 ft? From some angles it looks way higher then DCR. Also interesting it looks like RWS’s sky coaster is a different model and style even though village owned both the parks at one point? Why not buy 2 of the same ride.  There might be bits of a flow rider style ride in the back lot of RWS

WnWs SkyCoaster is 50m (164ft). 300ft is 91m. DC Rivals is 62m (200ft)

Probably because Sydney had the space to do a bigger one.
