Motocoaster: 45mins all day (how is this still so popular! Wild)

I'd imagine it mostly coming down to the fact that Moto is one of the worst to operate in the park, with staff having to go physically show people how to get onto the bikes almost every dispatch

Very busy at Dreamworld today. Jungle Rush was 60 minutes from about 11am. Queued right up until the entrance.

Probably why Movieworld new precinct barricaded all there ques behind prison black fencing. But he’s sad to see.

I’m guessing this is a queue railing?

Every railing in a queue line in any park known to man has had people’s fingernails scratch them. This is not new.

Yeah… I saw people scratching at them day one as well as trying to unravel the ropes in the joins.

Can’t have nice things…

Visited Rivertown today. (Dreamworld was heaving) we went to Jane’s restaurant for lunch and were really impressed with the theming and effort. The food was great. Took about 15mins, Good value, fresh, tasty. A table of 7 and everyone enjoyed their food and the atmosphere. Was awesome to see Michelle the operations director cleaning tables and helping the staff clean up and run meals. There is a reason the culture amongst the staff at dreamworld is so noticeably different to the other parks, and its stuff like this!

After lunch we went straight to Jungle rush. Advertised 45min wait (we didn’t see it any longer all day despite the park being so busy) we waited 18mins and were on the train. Efficiencies in the station were the best I have seen on any coaster in Australia, ever. The second the lap bars came up for one load to exit the ride, the gates were open and the next lot were moving in, lap bars checked and dispatched unbelievably fast. After about 2pm we never saw the advertised wait more than 15mins, and we didn’t wait in line more than 7mins each time. It’s already been said but the queue is impressive. Hot, but impressive.
not sure if this has been said but if you look down to the ground while your in the switch track room, there is an absolutely massive snake with its head aimed towards the track. It’s in the darkest section of the coaster, you can’t really see it when you go past as there is no light on it. I assume this is a work in progress? When it’s lit up I’m guessing it will be like their version of the yeti flypast on expedition Everest. It appears to be positioned right as you make a quick turn inside the temple, should make an awesome effect when light up.
I think dreamworld knocked it out of the park with this ride, just as advertised there were little kids and grandparents on this one and everyone seemed to finish the coaster with a big smile on their face. It’s just a really fun ride.
MMotors was advertised as 60mins most of the day so we left it till last, joined the queue at 4pm when advertised at 45mins,  but waited only 20. Still slow moving compared to other rides but they have at least improved operations since the last version of this ride. Theming is epic, similar to jungle rush, everyone seemed to love it.
we were talking to one of the ride ops while waiting for our turn and asked why dreamworld kept the ramp down to the waters edge rather than clear it during construction, it’s got new handrails, new floorboards. Our response was a smile and a ‘watch this space’ … I won’t read into it as it could be nothing, but if that means a future river/boat/raft ride, this would make a lot of people pretty happy!
also some new merch in the Rivertown shop that didn’t seem to be available on opening.
the park was alive today, atmosphere amazing, wait times really good considering the crowds, and staff were awesome! I gotta say it, movie worlds addition doesn’t come close in either execution, or operation.
Lastly, the park is still feeling a little incomplete with the half train track, and long empty walks in both directions to the animals. The train will apparently be complete again in the coming few months. Can’t wait to see Rivertown with even more kinetic energy once the train is back in action.

Park will feel a lot more "balanced" when a nextgen Rocky Hollow is built, complete with the worlds BEST Log Ride!  👍

Is there a reason why there’s no official/unofficial-but-still-approved POV?

Does Dreamworld not allow filming on their coasters? I figured we’d have something up by now.

The coaster isn't finished.  There is more theming to go up inside the temple, and more effects.

They got it into a good enough state to open for the holidays, but I'm guessing they want an official POV to be the actual finished product.  That's why we can see a POV of the exteriors but not interiors.

I'm starting to believe JR missed the mark with the attended audience.  The few times I have visited JR, I have noted, the trains are almost full of adults.  Where have all the kids gone who should be riding the family attractions?  In comparison to Scooby, the make-up of the guest in the queue is different.

I'm wondering if the realism of the theming is scaring kids off or is it children seeing the external section of the ride causing them to have second thoughts.

The 9 times I have queued for JR I have seen families retreating out of the queue.  The old chicken gate would come in handy here.

It's something that might change in the future as more kids ride JR and they realise what a great little ride it is.   This just been my experience while riding it.

Both my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son were most scared in the temple switchtrack because it was dark and loud. The rest they loved. I think if they added some spotlights like red or green etc to brighten it up it should work.

inside the que line they loved all the colours and set pieces.

Well that’s the thing about scooby. I remember thinking it was going to be a little dark carnival ride the first time as you have no visibility of the ride, whereas JR is in your face. I’d imagine Scooby’s initial attendance for younger / non-coaster lovers would have been much lower had you seen the backwards drop from the queue line

Isnt that specific section of the ride the one that's incomplete?

Little bit of extra effects added (like maybe some projection mapping around the face which should brighten up the room slightly) would make that bit less scary.

(for the record haven't been on it yet I'm operating off very limited glimpses of the switch track)

Gonna say it would be the external sections. More people than you think are turned off by the thought of a ride going backwards - no one does Rivals backwards even when the experience was cheap. If West's backwards drop was exposed I'd guarantee that a lot less people would have been on it.

from what i’ve heard, the interior of the switchtrack room and indoor sections isn’t completed yet, but it was either open the ride on time or finish the last little bits of theming.

the ride does seem to get pretty decent sized lines as well, but the opening crew are fantastic, most of the time the rides ready for dispatch before the second train is even hitting the break run.

I do remember seeing one kid burst into tears in the gem room because of how loud the audio blasts in there

@Brad2912I agree.  People definitely ride it for the first time, not knowing what they are in for, where for me, JR looks more intimidating.

@Levioperations of JR is world class but DW needs to come up better solution for loose items boxes.   I have never witnessed a staff member sliding the doors.

It’s honestly a capacity beast running 2 trains!!  The train in the station is usually ready to dispatch as the other train makes it to the final brake run.
as for the property boxes, the door has since been removed, and a 2nd smaller box installed. So there’s plenty of room for loose items now, and I find it helps with the congestion on the load platform creating a more seamless loading process.

@New display nameon my first visit i don’t remember there being a sliding door so they must’ve fixed that issue, its good to see them improving on an already near perfect product to speed operations up even more. i didn’t expect it to be such a people eater, it definitely has the best operations on the coast. i’m excited to see what else they do in the switchtrack room.

There has always been a sliding door, but I’ve noticed ops not using it all the time.

When it first opened they were sliding it back and forth with every dispatch, no issues.

Then a week or two later, the ops weren’t touching the sliding door and I’ve saw people losing things/picking up other’s property by mistake, and people currently on the ride stuffing their things into where I put my phone and keys.

It helps when Ops use the sliding door
