Dreamworld Maintenance 2023

The first dates have been added to the Dreamworld website for the maintenance schedule for 2023. No major closures next year, except for attractions in Dreamworks due to the refurbishment.
 

Interestingly, most of them are only listed as closing for a couple days in January. I’m thinking that maybe the area will close from this date and they aren’t yet sure on length of time. However Mad Jungle Jam isn’t expected to close until July. So maybe the refurbishment will be in phases throughout 2023 to ensure the entire area doesn’t need to close and massively reduce the attraction count for guests

Yeah maybe it will get new new trains that will resemble Cadillacs that will match the “Gold coaster” theme better then repainted hot wheels trains. Or it could just be a old ride and needs longer down time to stay in operation.

2 months would be about right for a full rebuild.

Gold Coaster normally goes down for about 2 months, I never know why they time it so much with the September holiday break.

Because the GC is a garbage coaster, and nobody cares when it's down.

Yes, it is strange. And the rides closing are EFM, PIBSS, SOGR, GG and PN, all in the Dreamworks area. I feel like the maintenance will be extended and the rides repainted in two stages.

That was my thought also. Remove all signage, statues and anything else related as a temporary solution and then one by one refurb the rides to be the parks IP or they’ll close everything at a later date and do it all at once. The later is a better option in terms of impact, but with the parks ride listing I can’t see it happening (depending on how extensive the works will be to construct the new rides)

How long until Steel Taipan is due for annual maintenance? Has Mack designed a ride that doesn't need maintenance? 🤣

You would hope it would be a while till it needed anything. Didn’t exactly have the cheapest price tag 😬

A $300k car has the same mechanical requirements and checks as a $30k car….

Steel Taipan has closed for a few days/week a couple times in the last year and maintenance was performed. But it is yet to close for a significant period for maintenance. Is it possible that they’ve got a maintenance plan with Mack in a way that means the ride doesn’t have to close for lengthy periods, since this is there only major headline thrill attraction?

If anything, you'd likely just be much more aware of any upcoming potential mechanical requirements for a $300k car, instead of waiting for the 'service light' to come on

Unless the 300k car was made by Mercedes and the 30k car was by Toyota. Then the 300k car needs ALOT more mechanical maintenance..

Isn't it mainly just painting and a few fibreglass mouldings? shouldn't take that long surely...?

especially if during maintenance they already dismantle the whole ride, wouldn't they just re-build with new coverings?

We've already seen DW has the ability to bolt on 2D signage overnight (see Yellow Wiggle)

Something else interesting to note is that on the 30th/31st of January, the park will only be open 10:30am-4pm. Something has to be going on.

We talk about how busy the parks are now, the drop off when schools go back is huge. Feb is by far the quietest month of the year, and first Monday Tuesday back are off peak as it gets. DW have had off peak hours for a while now yeah?

I think you may find that is a typo and meant to read Jan 30th to April 1st. 
 

those are their off peak hours

I thought they still closed at 5 in off peak hours? Or is this more of a closing at 4 to ensure everyone is out and the gates are closed by 5?
