Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016

Featured Replies

I'm at Dreamworld right now. Cub Kindy are is looking good. There's a new wooden frame around the non hidden parts to the Kevil hill facade suggesting it's going to be hidden.

Diesel train is running again (sadly).

A closer shot highlighting the new wood framework.

Also worth noting that he big blue erectable shade thing infront of the quarantine area has been replaced with a proper shade structure.

I've never seen a park use canvas to shield demolition... but i don't see what you're talking about...

It's this I'm talking about, didn't realise it was wood from a distance:

it's just a shame they couldn't have had them up before it was opened to the public. Thankfully now, they've got something that looks presentable, and future guests will have no idea the ugliness that came before it...

I'm sorry but for a temp attraction this looks AWESOME!

DREAMWORLD is giving one of its most popular attractions a multi-million dollar makeover.

The Gold Coast theme park has confirmed Tiger Island will undergo a redevelopment, including a new 500-seat stadium and themed shopping and dining outlets.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was there to turn the first sod on Sunday morning and said the $7m revamp will create 80 new jobs during construction.

drreamworld already has a 1,200 strong workforce during peak times, and is one of the biggest employers on the Gold Coast,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

The Coomera attraction draws 1.4 million guests each year, including celebrities from across Australia and the world.

The redevelopment will incorporate strategically placed windows to allow guests to safely come face-to-face with a tiger, while bigger splash pools will be created for the stars of the show.

Apologises for the editing. Posted from my phone and was difficult to edit out GCB's million hyperlinks

I wouldn't be surprised if they never had plans to use the old shades. It may of just been that they had to rush something out because of a delay in the construction or materials being supplied.

Great looking area, especially considering it's only a temp attraction. Just wish there was a tad more shade for spectators :(

Try this on for size.

Second photo the left tiger display looks like the old cub display at the entrance to Tiger Island (Kung Fu Panda entry).

The second photo appears to have combined 2 seperate pictures. The left picture being the current small area where the Cubs are usually shown to the public, and photo on the right being potentially the old Lair second where the single female tiger is kept
