Slide pieces are beginning to be preoattef for installation, with a crane on site and workmen joining pieces together. The red pieces will be at the top of the slide, and the rest will be yellow and blue

With there only being 5 more days until the slide is supposed to reopen, I'm very surprised that there still hasn't been any more pieces of slide installed. The pieces have been moved around and some joined together, but no lifted up into position.

Maybe they can get the guys from the Lego Store at DW to come and help, apparently they're good at building things..

Why? They can just extend the date like they have with Doomsday?

Remember these pictures were taking on the 7th of December. It is now the 16th of December. @themagician you commented on the photos over a week after they were posted. So one would assume that the bulk of the slide would be completed now as slides that are put into large sections on the ground don't take long to get put together.

@Tim Dasco when I checked out progress yesterday, the majority of the pieces were joined together on ground, but none had been lifted up into position yet. So it would only take a day or 2 to lift these pieces into position, and run tests?

Sorry @themagician I thought you were going by the pictures. I agree with you on that information. 2 days to install and test a ride does not seem like anywhere near sufficient.

The install, yes - but testing a slide like Super 8 is not the same as testing a complex bit of machinery like doomsday.

No slide has been installed, so that date will definitely be extended. Did notice that flags had been installed on the roof at the top of the slide

I would recommend to stick to the similar but much safer experience next door at aqualoop

It definitely isn't opening tomorrow, as there are no pieces of slide in place, unless there is a miracle and they install and test it over night.

OR, they could do a grand re-opening sometime tomorrow when all the crowds are about?

I somehow doubt there has ever been an example of a slide being in pieces on the floor of the park when the doors open, and being constructed, tested and open to the public within the course of the day..

I know some have said there were no pieces in place, but on Saturday the base track was in place, and behind aqualoop a lot of work had been taking place.

And yes @Intimidator305., but that base of the slide has been in place for weeks, and that work happening around the base of the slide, has been happening for about a week and they have joined some of the pieces together, so they can just be lifted into place. When I've said nothing is in place, I was just referring to the main section of the slide hasn't been installed in position of the framework.

The maintence page has just been updated and is now reopening Boxing Day

I believe all the Gold Coast theme parks' maintenance pages all automatically update at Midnight each night so given Wet 'n' Wild didn't update their maintenance page before midnight last night to extend Super 8 Aqua Racer's maintenance period, it's listing disappeared automatically at midnight and as you can see, they didn't re-publish it (and extend it) until earlier today.

So is it still 8 lanes? Cause if they widen it to 16 (if it fits) not only will they double throughput, but if they decide to add sound or music they can rename it to 16mm Aqua Racer
