Hi all! Just a heads up this isn't a lighting support forum. In the interests of fairness to all involved, we have removed the original comment that inspired the tech support.

I must admit I am a little confused with the maintenance schedule's for the VRTP parks. Is it showing that regular maintenance wasn't carried out during the lockdown, or is it cost-cutting due to the expected lower attendance (or both)?

Cool so the only ride of any note for people above the age of 7 is a water coaster, in winter.

I've been banging that drum for a couple years now. Storm's maintenance traditionally happens in February.

Yep. And I raised Storm’s maintenance window specifically with a VTP executive once who advised that it couldn’t be shifted from its late summer window each year due to manufacturers requirements around timing.

🤷‍♂️🤷🏼🤦

But it’s only being held in place by a chain

Yes your right!

Sarcasm aside, im sure there is more than just a chain... An rpeq engineer would have done a structural assessment and sign off considering this themed element is over the travel path of an attraction.

The chain looks to be a safety/ redundancy chain, and it’s mounted on its original mounting. Don’t expect to see it spin again though if this is a permanent fix for it.

I’d say some trigger happy safety fun police has decided it needs a secondary safety and can’t just be on its shaft (which would have been engineered in the first place).

This is the future of theming in Australia folks. The balance of logic in this country has gone towards extra safety to the point of even if it impacts on show. We’ll never have theme parks with the level of show immersion as overseas again as a result of this. You’ll never justify hiding an exit sign as it distrusts the theming or having an authentic prop like this again. That’s just the way it’s going to be. And the over engineering and safety analysis will add so much to the cost of doing anything less money will be available for theming.

This is just the reality in Australia now, past incidents have forced the governments hand and we just have to live with that as sad as it is.

Well yes this is true. Sadly the ‘honor’ system that was the case before appeared to be followed as much in places as the Covid one does 😛

Jet Rescue Coaster has been extended to the 24th of October, I hope vortex opens before then

Seems highly unlikely.
VTP has already said it won’t/can’t open until they can get the ride manufacturers out from Germany, which in current COVID regulations is impossible. Even once they arrive, it’s still a 5-6 week testing period.

summer holidays would be the earliest opening imo... and even that may be fanciful..
