Brods
This hurts my soul so much to look at 😭 they have done such an incredible job with the area and then there’s the TOT building sticking out like a sore thumb. My suggestion if they are planning to keep it is paint it the go away green and put lots of trees in-front of it to try hide it better. Or just rip it down all together for more space. The coaster train headlights are actually fire detectors - they can identify if fire is in front of the train, and they quickly reverse back down the track (the real reason why the car can run in both directions). I mean... given Greg Yong worked for VRTP... maybe he's bringing some of the best ideas from there over to Dreamworld. Along with all the good management that left with him and went to Dreamworld haha.

Popular Post Brad2912
Wow, the added greenery has really made the world of difference there is no doubt in my mind from an immersive perspective this is the best we’ve seen from a GC park, attention to detail seems fantastic and the weathered look and greenery still to grow in means the area won’t age negatively like many other themes areas we have seen in the past. Jane’s Restaurant looks on par with any themed offerings I’ve seen overseas 8

I’m going to be one of those people and highlight the chain link fencing… really wish they were themed to suit! Something like an old rickety wooden fence look would’ve been incredible. Maybe they still will be, or maybe they’ll be hidden once it grows in. 🤷🏻♂️ Cannot wait for opening!

If that is the only minor thing on the scale of this project, then that just shows how good of a job they done. Yes a fully themed fence would’ve been great, does it really matter… no! red dragin
When the Vintage Cars alone looks exciting to ride, the coaster must be great. Once those trees grow out a bit more, people will completely forget where they are for a moment.
casey96
So impressed by this! I think that chain link fencing will grow over with shrubbery in no time and it’s good to see the fencing around the pathing seems to be well themed too. Just hoping they have plans for the old TOT building. It’s odd they didn’t tear it down with the rest of the ride. It would really open up the area between dreamland and Rivertown. I wonder if there is a safety issue like asbestos with demolition or if they’re just using it as storage.
Popular Post themagician
Side note, massive shout out to the entire construction and Dreamworld team who are working around the clock in all conditions to get Rivertown complete before the end of the year. What you are creating looks to be setting a new Australian theme park standard for immersion and story telling. 5 1

Oh yeah I’m totally nitpicking like a bit of an a-hole. who knows there could still be theming to be attached to it or something… 8 minutes ago, themagician said: Side note, massive shout out to the entire construction and Dreamworld team who are working around the clock in all conditions to get Rivertown complete before the end of the year. I think it’s more a $ issue. It a huge expenditure to demo it without very little return. They’re better off leaving it until they’ve either got cash to splash, or they can incorporate the demo costs into something that will sell more tickets (like a new ride in that space)
Naazon
I weirdly associate chain link fences with theme parks so I really like how this has been incorperated. I dislike wooden fences as it blocks the views of off ride guests.

Not many homes of that age seem to have it If they planned on removing it, it would have been gone a year ago when they were re-doing Dreamland. You could feasibly use it for an expansion flat in Rivertown if you wanted to down the track though. Edited December 15 by Baconjack

WOZ has much the same fencing, and it seems like a pretty standard requirement these days. I'm sure they would have themed it if they could. 2 hours ago, casey96 said: It’s odd they didn’t tear it down with the rest of the ride. Hopefully the next expansion of Rivertown is to retheme MDMC. Hopefully they can engage PICO to do the work on this and completely redo the attraction to properly incorporate it into the Rivertown theme. rappa
Sadly I think you’re right and it’s one of the unfortunate limitations we face in terms of immersive theming in Queensland. There is so much government regulation and insurance company hoop jumping that you’ll even see generic handrails inside a themed railing just to satisfy these requirements. It’s a shame but one we just have to live with.
Levram__
I have to agree after watching that video they have done a remarkable job with this project. The detail, the difference in elevation on the vintage cars path of travel to give you the sense of realism, scale and wow factor. Not to mention, sound and lighting that will also only positively contribute to the immersion. I'm just as excited to ride Murrissippi Motors as I'm Jungle Rush. When I look at the footage/photos we have seen of both Rivertown and WOZ, I feel like Dreamworld have defiantly executed the themed land to a high level, covering the entire area in great detail. Where as the ride areas for the two WOZ coasters seems pretty sparce and undercooked? Maybe the stations and queue areas will make up for that but i feel like Rivertown is genuinely a much more well rounded execution.

DaptoFunlandGuy
5 minutes ago, New display name said: Can you please highlight the section for the people, where it mentions a chain wire fence must be installed? Don't be so obtuse. Of course legislation, codes of practice and regulations aren't going to specify a particular style of fencing. It is going to put forth the minimum requirements. It is then up to the relevant parties to agree on what meets those requirements. Chief of those parties would be the company engaged to consult on the risk assessment process, and the company whose job it is to sign off and certify that the installation is compliant. It's unusual that both Village and Dreamworld's new rollercoasters have much the same fences around their ride envelopes, no? I wouldn't be surprised if they use the same companies for the risk assessments, and this is what that company has come back with. I think in the current environment, and with the park's history - If the risk assessment they have paid for states a particular fence is required, and they choose to disregard that, it would be complete and corporate suicide. If anyone wants a read, the relevant section is 7.3.1 - Access to an amusement device
