Oh, sorry - i'll speak slower for you. Too many people in the park, not enough rides operating, not enough rides operating at full capacity, not enough staff to operate the rides effectively, poo

I was cautiously optimistic of the ride returning to the opening (of the ride) standard when this was announced, but after Oz and various visible maintenance/upkeep issues around the park I don’t have

I believe there was a media event on today.

There was an invite only event for “micro” influencers and people with theme park related social media channels this morning. My guess is they were allowed to film whilst on the ride for hype and positive word of mouth. They got to enjoy the new stars buffet breakfast beforehand too

Yeah! I was very lucky to be invited to a creator event and I was surprised to find out I was allowed to film! We also enjoyed the new Breakfast with the Stars option at Stars Terrace which was surprisingly fantastic!

Ok interesting, and very surprising, to hear that the blank disco room was a creative choice and not a budgetary one. The lights and/or lasers in the disco room (along with the pumping music) have always been a big part of the experience since the original, so I can't understand why this wouldn't be reinstated. It used to contrast so well with the dark ride portion

Ok so having watched the pov it is for sure an improvement over next gen. Most of the screens being gone is a good thing, even though some of the scenes before the elevator imv don’t look as detailed as they used to be.

Only major criticism is the wild mouse portion being in the dark. For me I reckon I’d like it but for the majority of riders it’s probably too intense for them. I suspect the lights will return as people tend to get hurt from not anticipating what is coming next.

Scooby being back is a good thing for the park in many ways, fingers crossed the park looks after it and doesn’t let it go to shit like every other themed ride they have

Just watched Mr Yum Yum's POV and all of the dark ride portion is awesome in my opinion. Big props to the park for putting so much effort into restoring as many animatronics as possible, and for the much improved lighting and screen animations. Massive improvement over Next Gen. Honestly I don't think the dark ride portion could be any better. Obviously the disco room is another story, but hopefully they address that in the future

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster is really something special. The music in the disco room creates the best most fun atmosphere. I wonder if the gold coast will ever get another fully indoor ride.

Gremlins shut 9th of September 2001, Scooby opened 17th of September 2002. So why did it take 2 and 1/2 years to replace some brake sections? If they can build a whole coaster in that short original time frame? The answer is easy PEF dragging out the required funds. Don't talk about access because the shed hasnt changed since the 90's

After riding today its still better then next gen. But its not great.

Eh

Can anyone else foresee mild injuries / slight discomfort from being tossed around a wild mouse track in complete darkness ?

Nightmare Mine at Frontier City is the only other example of a coaster that I can think of - but that was just bunny hills and helixes - the exact opposite of a wild mouse.

I’m not sure what’s worse - this being a budget decision or a creative one.

I’m very impressed with how the dark ride section looks. I think the park has done a great job restoring it back to its former glory and the new lighting package looks phenomenal! The screens are also integrated much better than they were in next gen. I especially love the extra little touches they’re added such as the cobweb projection on the 3rd corner and the new finale scene is very well done. However, I agree that leaving the wild mouse section completely dark was a huge mistake. Considering they upgraded all of the lighting in that area just a few years ago for next gen, I don’t understand why they didn’t just keep what they already had in there. Hopefully they still have all of the lighting fixtures and can add them back in later on. If they do, the ride would be pretty much perfect in my book.

Are the lights and smoke really removed from the disco room or have they just not been on in the POVs I've seen. That's a HUGE disappointment if they are genuinely gone.

I mean I guess it’s possible but I’m genuinely more worried that it will freak kids out as it’s substantial period of time of zero lighting

Former kid here, it freaked me out even with the lights so having no lighting at all is going to be even worse

Had 4 rides yesterday.

Agree that I was very happy with the dark ride section, a few minor things such as the rotating character not rotating but otherwise would consider it back to the OG opening standard.

Former disco room is definitely a huge let down, would have been better if everything “next gen” was left in place there, I can’t imagine why it would have been a creative decision to leave it black.

All the reasons mentioned above for safety, and it genuinely makes it much more scarier for kids.

Tiki room, very happy with and I would say better than the original. Great to have the Scooby Animatronic back.

Ok maybe we can calm down with the calamity of injury risk due to the complete and utter darkness carry on arent we meant to be theme park enthusiasts never once have i ridden a roller coaster and thought oh i wish it has more handles or i wish i had more advanced notice of that turn

Besides if you had a chance to ride in the last couple days youd know that rook is far from complete darkness and you can see just fine

Hey but good news for old dean is an eagle eye just at the entrance would catch an automatic crowd counter only one more step to go and we could have self locking turnstiles at the station

The queue is open and people are waiting, but no one has been able to ride yet. There are ‘technical delays’ and apparently people are being told they don’t know when the ride will open today.

This was apparently the case with the VIP preview yesterday too, nobody was able to ride for over an hour at the start of the day.

When the ride did open to the public just after 12PM it went down very quickly and was down until 2PM at which point they reopened the line exclusively for VIP and Team Members.

The ride reopened for the public just after the parade finished around 3:45PM.

Surely thats pr suicide if you advertise the 14th but close it at 5

Unless they have since changed their minds this is indeed the case, SDSC is not planned to operate during White Christmas.

That’s a complete crock of shit. In the high zone yes you can somewhat see the upcoming turns due to the glow of the emergency exit lights on each turn along the gangways, but once you drop down there is zero visibility to see track drop offs. I’m not saying this will injure people, but it certainly adds significant scare factor for children

Think you might need an eye test I could see just fine please dont ever ride space mountain
