Wait, your response is "it works in dozens of other countries but it won't work here because reasons?"

It may work, it may not. It does cost a lot more to produce over here, sure, but I think they know a thing or two about how to run a show for profit. Even if it doesn't rate well, the production company is still likely to profit from it.

You are correct that society has moved on from the bum dance craze of 2001 - but we haven't moved THAT far away - if you think about it, Sara-Marie was your average nobody, standing in front of a camera, doing a silly dance that got broadcast to millions and suddenly everyone was doing it.

These days your average Tik-Toker does the same thing.

I think producers have considered what works, and what doesn't. They've got recent lessons to learn from the recent seasons on other networks. Sure, they're playing to nostalgia by going back to their roots, but i'm fairly confident there's going to be sufficient modernisation that they'll capture an audience that is sufficient to support the season, and potentially get picked up by Paramount for at least one more.

(As long as it isn't the Dreamworld marketing team making the Tik Toks... ;) )

I thought it was DW's social media people up there.

  • the “👀🎢” part at the end of the caption along with “hold on tight, something massive is dropping” makes me think it actually could be a new coaster or ride of some kind, but who knows. a vekoma replac

If Paramount is smart, they will host limited 24/7 live stream cameras on 10play with the full suite of cameras through Paramount+ to boost sales there.

Everything Paramount does with 10 is designed to drive subscribers to Paramount Plus - but they still give enough to the free to air platform to ensure viewership doesn't decrease. It sounds like something that would be right up their alley.

They’ve done very well with the house given the confines of the area they had to work in.

Time will be the test on how well it is received and whether future seasons are ordered. One will think if they are, they won’t want to go to the efforts of pulling it all down and it may stay a permanent fixture.

The decision to have an outdoor stage for the shows however was proven horrible with the weather for the entry on Saturday night…

it's in a "studio" so it makes sense to make use of existing rigging where possible for lighting etc. The US/european houses are like that too.

It's only that living area that has the function centre ceiling exposed,  the bedroom, bathroom, diary room etc are all have ceilings from what i've seen in little snapshots

 "🤣" indicated I was joking.

It's hard to tell what you're indicating - but taking our lead from most of your posts shitting on the park, it was a fair assumption that your post was intended to ridicule.

The emoji didn't alter that.

Having outdoor stage with no roof on a live tv show on qld was so silly . When it rains it rains !

im sure they are considering a temporary fix .  Cant sit there on a stage in the rain after evictions with umbrellas?

Oh, the stage has no roof too. 🤣

TBH i'm surprised they didn't utilise the Dreamworld Theatre. the video wall would easily changeover to BB styling for broadcast.

(Maybe that's their wet weather plan for the future)

You'd require all of production to be set in that space during the broadcasts, plus many runs of fibre and so on to get back to the OB Trucks/Suites. Would be a huge mess having that area so far away from the rest of the production lot.

Plus, it would most likely require changes that would prohibit it from running during park hours... You'd spend less money putting up a temp truss roof instead of trying to use that space.

With the massive success of BB (best launch for 10 in 18 months, top streaming numbers ever) it is a foregone conclusion that another series or multiple will be ordered.

That opens the questions:

Does it stay at Dreamworld - VERY LIKELY if not DEFINITELY

Does it stay in the events centre with the current outdoor footprint and staging in Trolls village OR do they move to custom build house somewhere else on the property

If they keep the events centre location - does it stay in place year round therefore removing the centre as a function/events space year round

Will the house be opened for tours between seasons ?

Will they build a more permanent location for the live broadcasts ? (including undercover staging after more than half the live shows have been impacted by heavy rain/storms.

If they're keeping it in the events centre, then they need to fast track the removal of Gold Coaster so that end of the park can be entirely cut off. Closing it down for months is ridiculous.

I hadn't seen the stats on the show, so had no idea how successful it was. I think it's too early to call it a 'massive success' as the show is only 10 days in. Ratings for 'new' shows tend to spike at the beginning while everyone watches to figure out whether it's worth continuing to watch.

The real success will be how many people tune into the Finale.

The house will definitely be open for tours after the season. It's one of the biggest plums Dreamworld gets for hosting the show and increases park attendance overall.

I think it's a given that they'll figure out a more permanent solution for live shows if they plan to continue \ renew for multiple seasons.

Looks like tonight’s live BB show is being held in the Dreamworld Theatre in Kenny and Belinda’s Dreamland. Likely due to the forecast storms.

Yes, they did end up using the regular stage tonight. The time of the forecast storms has been pushed back.

They started deconstructing the stage and outdoor area of the house today. There will be house tours through the school holidays (dates to be confirmed).

Gold Coaster was meant to reopen this Friday, but has been delayed to next Friday.
