https://www.amusement-rides.com/product/gyro-swing-intamin - Looks as though Claw might possibly be for sale? I know the pictures are of the bigger model but all the stats match up to The Claw. They do have it listed as a 2005 model though (Claw was 2004). Maelstrom opened in 2002 and is still operating and the only other 32 seater Gyro Swing is Goliath at Adventure World.

Very interested to see if the ride ends up being sold to another park...

Apparently they can’t sell it to a park in Australia due to laws and regulations, but it’s being sold to a park overseas. Per https://www.tiktok.com/@wairayaadventures?_t=ZS-8tQxHW8EQ3M&_r=1 on TikTok live

King Claw went out for tender today.  Images from public tender.

I'd love to know your source on that, as there's no such law regarding the sale / purchase of used rides to other theme parks. Otherwise how did Gumbuya world buy BuzzSaw etc.

Didn't they say the ride was near the end of its life and that's why there replacing it. Who in the right mind is going to buy a ride that's close to dying.

That's basically them saying instead of spending the money doing a refurb they'd rather something new and more marketable. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all, but I'm sure with a decent overhaul the ride still has plenty of life left in her.

Remember Sea World said the same about the Pirate Ship before they got rid of it, and it's still running to this day. If it's for sale at the right price, for some parks it would actually be a great buy.

Went today, temporary fencing all up, all que lines have been taken down, a lot of the “claw” post were removed, already quite a bit has been done. Great to see.

Jungle Rush was back to 2 trains, operations were smooth.

I noticed that too. They’re really not messing around with this one, they most likely got to work minutes after the final swing earlier this morning. They’ll probably be done within a month

Perhaps easier to sell offshore due to different regulations here requiring more money to keep it operation .  Overseas buyer it may make sense if they can run it to its death etc without keeping up to same standards required in Oz .

It is also much easier to sell offshore given the vast majority of parks here already have a pendulum ride themselves and absolutely zero chance Village Roadshow purchases a ride second hand.

Don't give them ideas to save money lol.

damn they really are moving quick, when does everyone else think the ride will come down? i say it’ll be down by mid feb at the latest.

Doesn't surprise me it's coming down quickly because some of the existing theming is needed.  Some of the original theming will be modified for King Claw.

the arm and motor are sitting in the car park still completely together, i think it’s safe to say the ride has been sold. imagine it’s actually for down the road…

Gonna be REAL embarrassing if so. I don't mind for a smaller park that wants a thrill ride, even ones that don't mind having a bit of dreamworlds history (ala Project Zero at Gumbuya World). But Movie World would be a Horrible place to be utilised, it's touting itself as "world class" and "innovative". It's like Disney snatching a ride from Universal.

September holiday opening?

Wouldn't surprise me if they're aiming for September 18th

Even if you put aside the fact that this would be the worst decision they could make, the simple fact of the matter is Village's ego would never allow them to buy a second hand ride from Dreamworld.

THE CLAW - REMOVAL UPDATE 17/2/25 - The Adventures of Theme Park Girl

So I stopped by Dreamworld on the way home late this afternoon... unfortunately due to their earlier off-peak closing hours, I missed entering the park itself (might have to make a return trip tomorrow lol) however I did stop by the carpark to take a quick look at the Claw graveyard.

Obviously the ride's frame has been removed from inside the park over the past week (I've been busy moving house, so unfortunately missed it - sorry guys!) as it is now sitting outside with the rest of the remains.

However, what's interesting is that the frame legs all appear to have been severed by blowtorch during the removal process within the park, along with the arms of the gondola which the seats attached to (see before/after comparison photo below) which definitely looked a lot longer last week?

Unfortunately, this discovery does potentially dismiss the belief that the ride was being sold off, as it now appears that the Claw may be headed for the scrap heap instead

Would be interested to hear more thoughts on this!

More photos on the way tomorrow, as I catch up on everything post move....

Do we still think its for sale? I'd say no :(

I mean it’s a pretty clean cut with an oxy, it could re welded, but yes this is looking very doubtful, in saying that most of the cuts seem to be in line per leg, but that could also be to suit the flatbed they will be departing on
