I thought it was DW's social media people up there.

  • the “👀🎢” part at the end of the caption along with “hold on tight, something massive is dropping” makes me think it actually could be a new coaster or ride of some kind, but who knows. a vekoma replac

I hadn't considered that, but it makes sense as that gate is where all the food trucks enter from.

The gates were blocked off for most of Winterfest, but I believe they just went to the effort of moving equipment and fencing during this time so the night markets could still operate during the school holidays.

Early November shooting is only 3 months away. Surely we'll be seeing some construction soon if not already?

Drove past the Beattie Rd boundary (graveyard, monster truck location) and they had installed a new fence along that perimeter and could see heavy machinery operating over the top of the fence so likely clearing and levelling the land

That cable would be at least 100m long and would be through park guests areas.

I get your logic you’re trying to use for this idea, but it’s not that simple or viable. It would need to be a whole new building somewhere else.

Seems was that simple .

That was always a simple option, the fibre runs from the old house were far far longer.

I think the part that was always in question was more the size of the building, and the free areas next to it. A production of this scale is going to require multiple OB trucks, ancillary buildings for production teams and so on. There isn't really any space for any of that around the DEC.

It would've made far more sense to have had the house in the expansion plot next to WWW, all of the support around that space, with the live shows being held within the DEC space. It all feels very backwards.

I do find it weird placing the house in the main entertainment venue, they keep talking on the socials about how it’s going back to original format. So I’m unsure where they will do the live show,

I wonder what they put the BB house in the entertainment centre rather then the old thunderbolt building which would still have its amenities, closer to the out door area, access from the back and would give access to the blue roller coaster

Building seating and a live show stage (and probably a live production/circus tent for weather) is much easier than a whole foundation/house. They could easily build that on the expansion land in a week for live shows and if they go down the 'friday night games' route I'm sure knocking up a few temp walls and throwing down some fake grass doesn't take long either.

If Gold Coaster is shut down, there is a significant amount of free space underneath the coaster for production trucks and such.

I do agree, but as we've concluded, this feels like it's very last minute. Getting a building approval to construct the house on that plot would have taken time. Constructing a set inside an existing structure requires no such approvals, while support buildings in demountable or truck trailers can roll in and plug in..

As has been suggested, perhaps this is the plan for this year while they formulate a longer term plan.

Why can't the production team take up the other half of the shed?

The original BB building was 700sqm.  The current DW building is 1500sqm.

More spaces means more areas to gossip which leads to more drama. Additionally in prior seaons they sometimes have had a 'second house' or just straight up might not use the entire area.

Love Island villas these days start at 1500sqm and the recent Love Island USA villa was closer to 2500 sqm. not sure how relevant that is, but a sign of things increasing I guess.

Wouldn't cutting the shed into 2 give production its own space?

Most of the production will be done from purpose built OB trucks, which do not fit within the building anyway. Sure you will have spaces for the production team on the ground, most likely your camera department, and possibly some producers, but everything else will be from trucks.

Eviction shows maybe, but the house has traditionally been flyaway.

This isn't the same show as 20 years ago.  Back then they were still recording to tape.  Now everything is just data that gets uploaded to post houses almost immediately.

The show is much easier to produce now.  It's mostly PTZ (security style) cameras, and one person can operate 10+ cameras from a single desk, depending on how spread out everyone is.

It's not the big infrastructure-heavy show it used to be, which is why the 'house' is just a Set in a shed.  It's designed to be temporary, and it's unlikely that the show will ever have a permanent structure again because it's expensive, unnecessary for production, and no broadcaster will be willing to pay for it given the relatively low viewership the show now has.

The final series on 7 was only pulling an average 140,000 viewers per night and was cancelled as a result. The previous series only pulled 340,000.  Compare that to the 1M-1.7M that ten was pulling in across its first seven series - cancelling it in Series 8 when they only pulled 860,000.

They're hoping that the DW nostalgia and live eviction shows will spur some renewed interest in the show, and it might for one series, but that is not sustainable and people will lose interest pretty quickly.  The show is only ever going to be as interesting as the cast, and unfortunately, genuinely interesting people (compared to charismatic people) are not usually the extroverted narcissists that are willing to sacrifice their privacy to go on a reality TV show where they're filmed showering naked and taking a crap.

But if you're thinking that the scale of the production will be the same as it used to be, you're in for disappointment.  It doesn't need to be, and the live shows and the production will be much smaller overall to align with the revenue that the much smaller audience generates.

But the show will bring some national exposure for Dreamworld, which it still really needs.

live shows will be tiny in any case as well.

I give this one year on air.

dreamworld is being to nostalgic here or taking a small cash grab. Why associate yourself with a flopper.

But I think if this reincarnation of the show goes well this year (which I think it will), it will last 3-4 years. The park always did well when the show was airing because they offered experiences like meeting evicted house mates, photo op in the big brother chair, mercy and when the show ends, walking through the house. It’s a no brained for the park to take advantage of this opportunity, especially when they’ve been investing so much into the park and they want to show it off!

Relating back to my previous post about my teenage obsession with OG Big Brother, doesn't matter what they'll do I won't be watching, it's got nothing to do with the premise of the show or the cast or the theme park. I've just moved on as a person. Yes I'm nostalgic for old school Dreamworld Big Brother but we live in a ~Skibidi Labubu Dubai Chocolate~ world, Big Brother is meaningless and so is everything else I care about... lmao...

I will add, I appreciate Dreamworld wanting to MINE nostalgia but if they want to DIG deep, then maybe put in a new ride that's I don't know... MINING nostalgia, you know like a RIDE that makes people of a certain age say EUREKA! Jk, I don't give a fuck about Dreamworld...

I think that's a very narrow view to take. According to Wiki, there are 40 different versions in over 30 countries both english speaking and not that have aired a season in either 2024 or 2025. Some of them have consistently run a season every year for a long time, others start and stop.

The original raw concept also hasn't been seen in so long that it is effectively a 'new' concept for a whole new generation. I'm not saying it'll succeed, but i'm interested to see what they do, and while i'm not a die-hard fan, i'll probably tune in to see what all the fuss is about this season and how they do things. if it grabs me, i'll keep watching.

Different population levels in different markets so can get enough viewers to support elsewhere.

Different countries different cost bases .

Here will the number of viewers support to make this again profitable despite the likely high Australian running costs?
